And, you are etching to get your first self-hosted (WordPress) blog/website to see how it’s really done.

Well, here is the solution, free!

Basically, you need a domain name (.com, .net, .org, .co.cc, etc) first and then you need some space on the Internet where you can host your site so anyone and every one can access/visit your website.

So, first lets get you a domain name, shall we?

Get A Free Domain

You can get a free domain name from www.co.cc. Actually you can register more than more domain name! ( I don’t actually know the limit!)

• Register yourself using your email on their website (Note down your password – you will be using it again and again)
• Search for the website name you want – anything – or you name ie, thangpu.co.cc. [Double check that the domain you want is indeed free - there are some non-free ones too]
• Register your desired domain name.

Get A Free Webhost

Next, you need a space to build and host your website, free.

This is where a free webhosting company called 000WebHost.com comes in. There is a script call Fantastico which builds a WordPress blog automatically, so don’t worry about not being techy and knowledgeable.

Setting up the domain

Back at the “Manage Domain” page, choose the number one: “Name Server” option and write down these values:

- Name server 1: ns01.000webhost.com
- Name server 2: ns02.000webhost.com

Then click “Set Up“, and you’ll go into another waiting game.

Installing WordPress

After the host and the DNS settings are active, we can log in to the cPanel to install WordPress. You can log in using your email address and password.

Find the Software section inside the cPanel and choose Fantastico, then select WordPress and provide the admin name with the chosen password. The Fantastico script will make the WordPress installation easier by automatically building and linking the database for you.
