Cross-fire between ZRA & PLA

Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA), including 60 members, launched an offensive operation to eliminate the camp of Meitei insurgents, between Aisih and Phaisat, Tonzang Township on 13 January 2010.These Meitei insurgents were the strongest and most experienced members of the so- called People Liberation Army. As the Meiteis got information on the operation, they left the camp, and ambushed the ZRA members on their way back, and had cross- fire along the hill side near Phaisat village at 5:00 PM. The two ZRA members namely Taang Thang Za Muan @ Mark at point-1, and Taang Thang Min Lun @ Tiger, Tiger of Sanggaikot at point-2, sacrificed their lives during the cross- fire. Three members of PLA were also killed on the spot, and many wounded. Two other Meiteis who were hospitalized at Cikha Hospital, died on 16 Jan 2010, according to local source.
The date of the incident coincided with the day decided to meet Mr.GK Pillai, Under- Secretary, Interior Ministry, India, and Brigadier General Phone Swe, Deputy Minister, Home affairs Ministry, Burma, and discuss on insurgents in north-east India, insurgents based in Burma, and drug trafficking. Mr.GK Pillai scheduled his trip to Naypyidaw on 19- 21.In February 2009, while the Vice- President of India officially visited Burma, such cross- fire occurred, and two Meiteis were killed and one seriously wounded.
“The land of Kam Hau has been under the control of Meiteis”, N. Bisheswar, leader of PLA, expressed in a media.
Six Meitei insurgent groups have already based their camps in Sagaing Division, Madalay Division and Rakhine State and Chin State. If we cannot afford to drive out the military junta of Burma, who is providing shelter, allowing freedom of movement and opium cultivation to the Meiteis in Zogam soil, and the Meitei insurgents, then, the souls of our ancestors WILL NOT be satisfied. Therefore, it is a time and a must to drive out the PLA and other Meitei insurgents from our soil.
